Justin Rose has surfaced as an injury doubt with the week’s BMW PGA Championship after showing he’s fighting with a knee injury.
Rose declared his media duties on Tuesday and has pulled from Wednesday’s star-studded pro-am, even though he remains determined to take his place in the field for its opening round Thursday.
The world No 4 suffered the injury last week and was having intensive treatment on the ailment, but he will be not able to match in almost any practice rounds prior to his scheduled 12:40pm tee time on Thursday, when he’s slated to play together with Ryder Cup team-mate Jon Rahm and former Masters champion Patrick Reed.
Rose, who dropped to Anders Hansen in a play-off at Wentworth in 2007 and has been also runner-up to Luke Donald five decades after, issued a statement which read:”Last Thursday I slid and jarred my knee.
“Since that time I have been receiving treatment on the injury and I have been working together with Justin Buckthorp along with my healthcare staff apart from the course so as to ensure I am able to play this week’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
“Unfortunately, I have had to withdraw from Wednesday’s pro-am for a precaution, but I am doing everything I can to be more better fit to play Thursday.”
